The UK Knabstrupper Association is the only Defra/EU approved Passport Issuing Organisation & Stud Book Holder for Knabstruppers in the UK. In addition the UKA holds a 'Part-Bred Register' for any horses in the UK with some Knabstrupper breeding but which do not comply with the rules of the KNN of Denmark Main Stud Book or Appendix to Main Stud Book. The UKA also holds a 'Register for Horses with Coloured Characteristics.' - Main Stud Book or Appendix to Main Stud Book: Horses will only be entered into a stud book or Appendix to Main Stud Book at time of grading but can be recognised as eligible at time of registration. Registrations and Passports require dna Parentage Report which must be provided through the UKA and a valid covering note. These registrations will also require a (minimum) 3 generation pedigree as specified by the eu mother stud book the KNN of Denmark. Horses to be passported as eligible for the Main Stud Book or Appendix will require to be microchipped by a vet and the number confirmed on the passport application form and signed by the vet at time of insertion. If the horse to be passported is already microchipped a copy of the registration form must be provided with the passport application. An up to date photograph of the horse will be required with passport application
- Knabstrupper Part Bred Register: The minimum requirement for horses to be passported into this register will be one Knabstrupper parent which must be registered and or graded as a Knabstrupper with a recognised eu Breed Society. Part-Bred Register Passports can be issued without dna Parentage Reports but will be noted on the passport as 'Pedigree Not Verified’. 'Therefore although a pedigree can be shown in the passport the UKA cannot verify that this is the correct pedigree without a valid covering note and a dna parentage test which must be provided through the UKA (via the Animal Health Trust) at which time the parentage will be accepted as valid by the UKA Horses to be passported for this Register will require to be microchipped by a vet and the number confirmed on the passport application form and signed by the vet at time of insertion. If the horse to be passported is already microchipped a copy of the microchip/horse registration form must be provided with the passport application. '
- ‘Horses with Spotted Characteristics' Register: The minimum requirement for horses to be passported into this register will be mottled skin at natural openings. The |Horses with Spotted Characteristics Register Passports can display pedigree information provided by the owner but passports issued without dna Parentage Reports will be noted on the passport as 'Pedigree Not Verified’. 'Therefore although a pedigree can be shown in the passport the UKA cannot verify that this is the correct pedigree without a valid covering note and a dna parentage test which must be provided through the UKA (via the Animal Health Trust) at which time the parentage will be accepted as valid by the UKA Horses to be passported for this Register will require to be microchipped by a vet and the number confirmed on the passport application form and signed by the vet at time of insertion. - All UKA Passports will require completion and signature of the Silhouette diagram provided with the UKA Passport Application form by a UK registered Vet.
- Any changes to either Owner or Horse information for UKA passported horses must be notified immediately to the UKA and the Passport and ownership document amended accordingly.
Upon the death of a horse Passported with the UKA the Passport must be returned immediately with notification. - Duplicate Passports can be issued where the original has been lost and will be marked as 'Duplicate' and the Section IX will be marked as 'Not for Human Consumption.'
- UKA Passports can be issued as a direct replacement of an ID only passport as long as the original UELN is retained thus allowing recognition of the Knabstrupper breeding (according to rules in place at any given time).
10. A UKA Section IX can be issued to non-UKA passported horses as an insert where this is missing from the existing Passport. The Section IX will be marked as 'Not for Human Consumption.' | | |
